FAQs

Why should I choose C&I over other monitoring companies?

We are the only company capable of complete “in house” service in Wichita Falls. Service that is not dependent on any other entity. We have provided this service since the mid 80’s. C&I, unlike other monitoring companies, has our own local central state-of-the-art monitoring station. Our radio transceivers and repeaters giving us total control over the communication link between the customer and our monitoring facilities.

Why is it better to have local monitoring?

Most security companies choose to forgo the cost and time required to maintain their own monitoring facilities. It is much cheaper to “farm out” the monitoring service out to a national company. The downside is there is no control over how the customers are handled and the service is completely dependent on phone companies for signal transmission. They are depending on service across the state or even the nation which gives much more opportunity for failure. In most cases the staff of a national monitoring company is not trained on the operation of your security system. They will not be able to help with even the basic operation questions. They will also have no idea about local weather conditions or utility construction.

Why should I look at this as a long term investment?

The equipment we install is top of the line and offers the best performance possible for the money/value. There is a difference in price versus cost. The price is what is initially paid for the system versus what it costs to maintain that system over time. The systems we install are designed to last for many years of trouble-free operation. Unlike most other technologies, such as computers, as long as the system is performing correctly the equipment does not become “outdated”. Why purchase a “cheap” security system that will need continual replacement? You will actually spend more than you would for better, more reliable, long-life system. We continually replace the cheap competitors systems because the customer has lost confidence in its performance. C&I is in the life safety business. Unreliable performance is not acceptable. Every piece of equipment we sell is industry proven and heavily tested by us before we offer it. We do not sell beta or prototype systems.

What kind of maintenance is required?

Routine maintenance is control panel battery replacement. All systems have at least one battery for system operation during power failure. Batteries are rechargeable. Wireless systems battery life is around five years. Hardwire systems battery life is three to four years. Battery replacement cost is minimal.

Are hardwired systems better than wireless?

C&I prefers to use hardwire equipment whenever possible. Hardwire equipment is virtually invisible compared to the required surface mount transmitters on wireless systems. Hardwire systems last longer because parts/sensor replacement is not an issue. In almost all instances new hardwire sensors work perfectly with older control equipment Over a period of time, sensors for wireless systems often become unavailable for replacement by the manufacturer. Available sensors are not always compatible with the original system. If the construction type or budget requires wireless C&I has a very good track record for reliability. However, our first choice is hard wire whenever possible.

What does cellular transmitter monitoring mean?

Although cellular transmitters (GSM module) are wireless from the customers location the signal is still retransmitted using telephone lines once it hits the first cell tower. The signal is sent to another state to a processing center before it can be transmitted to the final monitoring station. Now the signal is relying on three 3rd party services for its path to the monitoring station. If any of these services fail the signal is lost. Cellular service isn’t always reliable, as we all know.

Should I be concerned about brand X versus brand Y?

A home security system is only as good as the company that installs it. Our highly trained and experienced technicians are part of what separates us from the competition. Most security equipment today has similar features and looks to be comparable. If all alarm companies used the same basic equipment, how it is installed and the type of wiring used makes a huge difference. The use of higher quality power supplies, door/window switches, system grounding, and etc. are the other things not readily visible to the consumer and will make a significant difference on the performance and longevity of a system.

How long is the term of a C&I monitoring contract?

Our monitoring contract is a month to month commitment, unless special financing terms have been arranged. We believe that a satisfied customer will choose to stay with us. Many of our competitors insist on 5-7 year contracts that commit the customer to them whether the system works properly or not! This completely goes against our philosophy of “treat your customers the way you would like to be treated”.
